behind the overturned table.
After a few moments of rough and tumble fighting that left the suite a shambles but all
life intact, Zeban and Kawa overpowered the mercenaries.
After Zrac and Garn were properly beaten, Zeban turned the two chained and subdued
mercs over to Kawa. He pulled Maymon off the prisoners and held him at arms length,
studying him. Maymon returned the intense stare, flinching only when Zeban pointedly
sniffed him.
Releasing his hold on Maymon, Zeban towered over the pirate, glaring down at him,
but Maymon didn t blink. The young pirate reached out and jabbed at Zeban s bare chest,
testing to see if he was real or another fantasy sea monster created from his own mind. When
the massive hunter didn t budge, Maymon shoved harder, only to rock himself back on his

feet instead of the Oracan, who merely grinned at him in response to the attempt at
manhandling.
Maymon made a satisfied humphing noise and declared, Got one just like you meself
around here somewheres. Off visiting the folks right now or some such.
He looked Zeban over very closely, getting right up into the Oracan s personal space.
You may be just a wee bit bigger than me own great sea monster. He nodded to himself,
tapped his index finger against his lips, and then thoughtfully added, But you all really need
to be green, mate. It d bring out the color of your eyes.
The Oracan hunter s eyes grew wider in surprise and his lips parted in an amused
smirk.
Dismissing the huge alien who continued to tower over him, Maymon stepped around
Zeban and cast an exasperated and angry look at the total destruction in the room. Turning
on his heel, he smartly stalked up to Zrac and jabbed a finger in the merc s ugly face. And
don t be thinking I ll be paying for all this. He threw his hands in the air in frustration. Tals
never lets me keep any pretties I -- He darted a guilty look at Rice, knowing she knew the
true source of his pretties, and amended his words. -- find. Amends ll be coming out your
purses, to be sure, gents.
Still smirking, Zeban came up behind the pirate and lifted Maymon up and out of his
way, depositing the small human on a high side table, one of the few pieces of furniture left
intact. He looked Maymon in the eyes and rumbled authoritatively, Stay there, boy.
Scowling, Maymon frowned and complained, You re related, aren t you? You and my
great beast? I can tell, ya know. Got the same imperial tone to your voice, ya do.
Zeban ignored the question. Talos is securing the vessel these festering boils of flesh
came in. He wanted to be here, but I wanted the chance to meet you myself.
His eyes roamed over Maymon again and he sniffed the pirate s neck. My brother has
chosen well, if oddly. He ignored the affronted pout the pirate gave him and demanded,
You never saw us come or leave. He glanced menacingly at Rice and she quickly nodded
her head in agreement.
Maymon watched the doctor s instantly compliant reaction. He pondered the alien
staring at him from only a few inches away and gave in, shrugging amicably. No problem,
mate. He leaned down and plucked a still half full-mug of juice off the floor and took a swig,
then declared, Have hallucinations all the time, if the drink s worth the coin.
Zeban blinked when Maymon winked conspiratorially at him, then moved back to
rejoin Kawa. Closing their eyes, the hunters and their prey instantly disappeared from the
room.
Jumping down from the table Zeban had perched him on, Maymon walked over to the
place where the aliens had vanished. He paced around in a circle looking for clues to how

they had disappeared. Right useful skill. He turned thoughtful and wondered out loud,
Wonder if they can teach me that. He looked hopefully at Rice.
Staring, Rice came out of the corner of the room and asked, Who was that?
Maymon sighed, shook his head and offered, Relatives, I m guessing. His gaze darted
around the room looking for something out of place. He frowned, cocked his head and
suspiciously asked the doctor, Do ya feel like we ve done this afore, lass? The same, but
not?
Rice rubbed the short hairs on the back of her neck and shrugged, a slightly
uncomfortable expression on her face.

Inside the sleek but small merc fighter, Zrac sat stiffly in the trim, functional pilot s
chair. He hit the commlink and Barlow appeared on the communication systems view
